For most of my life, I have dealt with pain in one form or another. Whether it came from emotional abuse or from a chronic illness or injury, it’s hard to remember a time I did not have some form to deal with.

Through it all, what helped me most to cope and find my answers were my spiritual beliefs. They gave me hope when the alternative would have been to have none. They gave me answers to better understand the “why” of my situation. They helped me go deep inside and work on myself to get rid of the baggage I carried, which caused additional pain and prevented me from moving forward in my life.

It was and still is a hard road to travel. However, life would have been so much more difficult if I had not had my spiritual beliefs and my intuition to guide me in finding my inner strength and truth and the healing power inside me.

I am being interviewed on this topic on the VoiceAmerica radio network show called “Help me Rhonda…NOW!” with host Rhonda Farrah, on Thursday, June 24 at 6:00 pm Eastern/3 pm Pacific. Come join us as we discuss ways on how you can tap into your inner strength and healing power.

For Immediate Release 757-877-1440, elaine@elainelockard.com

New Book Reveals 21 Ways To Ease Foot Pain
Author’s Personal Story Shaped Research, Writing of Book
Listen to Radio Interview Online

Newport News, VA. Elaine Lockard, intuitive business mentor coach and professional intuitive, is proud to announce the launch of her new book, “21 Ways to Ease Foot Pain,” on June 14, 2010. Meticulously researched and with a comprehensive reference list, the book overflows with real world, effective tips and therapy methods that are proven to mitigate one of the most common ailments in the country. Lockard will be interviewed about her own formative journey on the “Help me Rhonda…NOW” show on VoiceAmerica radio (www.voiceamerica.com), on June 24 at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT).

“Foot pain is an enormous distraction that can make even the most philosophic minds lose their focus,” says Lockard. “I suffered for years with my own foot pain, and found passion in helping the ones who need my help the most, those whose pain and suffering I understand so very well. That’s why I wrote this book. When every step causes pain, there’s no way you can give your best at work, at home with your family, or even at your leisure. Chronic foot pain can muddle your mind, dull your attention and simply make you miserable.”

Lockard’s own journey in coping with chronic foot pain began in 1995 while a cruise. She pulled a tendon in her right foot and did not seek immediate medical attention. As she limped around in pain, the increased stress caused her to strain a tendon in the other foot. After numerous treatments, many of them incorrect and ineffective, the chronic pain in both feet led her to spend years researching the many reasons for, and the many approaches to, pain relief.

“21 Ways to Ease Foot Pain,” also available in an accessible, graphics-free version for the visually impaired, covers self-treatments, herbal therapies, physical therapy, medical manipulation, and pain relief orthotics, among other ways to lessen the pain. Readers will understand which ones are most likely to address their particular foot pain and discomfort directly, and take immediate steps to try it for themselves. Lockard’s already done the legwork – and the footwork – for them!

Here’s what some experts have to say about the book:
“I loved this book,” says Ginger Oringer, DC, CCN. “I enjoyed reading about Elaine’s healing journey with chronic foot pain. She is informative and entertaining while educating us about the various healing and medically oriented modalities available. It seems that pain, especially chronic pain, often needs to be approached from more than one direction. Elaine does a good job of showing us the choices available.”

“I have been a coach for three years and a professional acupressure massage therapist for 20 years. There is information in this book that even I, as a professional massage therapist, didn’t know about,” says Teresa Christian, Coach on Fire. “This is a very easily digested book with lots of very good, useful information. Elaine has a writing style that is concise, clear and very informative that makes her material easy to absorb. I was delightfully surprised and will highly recommend this book to all my clients.”

Well it’s finally here; my first book! It’s called “21 Ways to Ease Foot Pain” and that is exactly what it contains.

I have had chronic pain in my feet for 15 years. I have researched and tried many different therapies and treatments and of those, these 21 are the ones which worked best for me. Instead of holding onto the information I collected, I decided to put it into this book and make it available to everyone.

In this e-book, I not only cover treatments to ease your pain but ways to prevent foot pain as well. Additionally, I discuss how and why seemingly unrelated pain in other areas of your body may be contributing to and, possibly, even causing your foot pain. Did you know back pain can cause foot pain? And I have included simple exercises and stretches that would benefit everyone when done daily.

Click on the book cover link at the top of the right sidebar to get more information on the book and how to obtain it or go to www.waystoeasefootpain.com.

Also, please join me and my fans on my Facebook Ways To Ease Foot Pain Fan Page. There you can “like” the page, tell us your story, submit your tips on how you ease your pain or pick up tips from others.

Here’s to you having happier, healthier days ahead!

Hi Everyone,

I went to my first support group meeting yesterday. I felt so good to be myself and not worry that I had to lay on the floor for part of the meeting because my back hurt. I actually shared the floor with our facilitator, Sally Price. She too has back and tailbone pain and her hubby designed a great back support cushion that she carries to the meetings on a baggage rolling tote carrier. It works very well.

Its really so embarrassing to have to lay down when going out to appointments or meetings, but if I don’t, and overdo it, my back goes into spasms. It great to have people that understand. We actually spent awhile talking about tools we each had designed to help us in our daily lives. It is amazing how inventive you can be when necessary. Just goes to show the old adage still applies, “There is more than one way to skin a cat”.

Sally had numerous pamphlets and other materials we could take to help us with information we needed. We also learned a relaxation technique and I almost fell asleep. LOL

All in all, it was a good meeting and I enjoyed making new friends. If you are in pain, I encourage you to seek out a group in your area. It just may be one of the best things you could do for yourself!

Blessings, Elaine

During September, you as a person living with pain, can show others and most importantly yourself, that you are a valuable asset to your community, no matter what your limitations are, by being involved in whatever way you can. It may be only writing a letter to your state governor to ask he or she back the Awareness program or by helping another in your community through support over the phone or in person, if you are able. Anything, no matter how small you may think it is, is a step forward. Remember, a path is paved with small steps!!

Also, talk to your health care providers and thank them for what they have done for you and others. It is a great responsibility they have. Let them know about the ACPA, the work it is doing and invite them to be a part of this growing and much needed awareness.

I just read the following article and it speaks very well to the fact that we feel guilty about not healing. It rightly points out that our path to a more spiritual place, may be paved with pain, as a part of our life lesson we came to learn in this existence. We must accept and move forward within what has been given us and not let it hold us back in life as Christopher Reeve and Mattie Stepanek did. We move forward and create a better existence for ourselves in spite of the pain and struggle.

One of the most difficult aspects of my journey with chronic pain has been dealing with the “new age guilt.” New age guilt (the guilt people feel when they don’t heal from a physical problem) is not new, but I believe it was bolstered by the Secret. This is what I call the “dark” side to the Secret (LOA).

I first came across this idea of new age guilt back in the late 80′s after Bernie Siegel’s book, Love, Medicine, and Miracles, was released. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this book, Siegel’s message was that self-love and positive mental attitude are the most important techniques in the battle against cancer. Siegel shared antedotes of people who had miraculous physical healings as a result of their mental and emotional work. Many people misunderstood his message – they believed that Siegel was saying that if you do the right mental things and develop enough self-love then you WILL be cured of cancer. If you still have cancer, then you must not be doing it right or you don’t want to heal (new age guilt). Actually, Siegel’s message was that positive attitude and self-love lead to emotional/mental healings and sometimes the by-product is a physical healing. The goal, however, is the emotial peace and happiness that make living (whatever amount of time) more enjoyable and meaningful. I completely understood Siegel’s point back then. The idea of working for peace and acceptance made sense to me personally and professionally.

Unfortunately, I sort of lost this idea for awhile last year. As the Secret gained momentum, people became very invested in the message. Many people believed that if only they used the Law of Attraction right, then their health problems would disappear. They believed this to be true for themselves and those around them. I had people suggesting that I wasn’t using the LOA right. I had some imply that I wanted to remain in pain. I resisted all of this at first, but overtime this new form of new age guilt wore me down. I found myself feeling guilty and shameful that I was still having pain issues. What was I doing wrong? How could I hold myself out there as an expert when I couldn’t make myself healthy? I started retreating from friends and from the blogosphere. I was feeling emotionally down and physically in a lot of pain.

Then one day I listened to a podcast from Wayne Dyer. A women with some serious health issue was asking about the Secret and why she couldn’t get rid of her problem. Wayne replied that sometimes our health problems are meant to be our curriculm to God. The light bulb went off!! Aahhh… that’s right! I remembered Mattie Stepanek and Christopher Reeve. These two men are shining examples that you can be positive and happy AND still have health problems. Clearly, they were not failures! I believe they were here to teach us some very powerful lessons. Sometimes we are meant to deal with serious health issues – maybe a past life thing, a way to teach, or a way to learn important life lessons.

Suddenly, like a spring bouncing back, I was right back to where I was before this little dip. I was reconnected with the idea that the most important thing for me to do is find acceptance with my health status. I knew that I needed to find peace and happiness despite the pain. Having peace and acceptance is priceless. There is a chance that a by-product will be physical healing; but, if not, I will have peace and acceptance. That is more than most able-bodied people have. That is what I believe life is about. For me a life of peace, happiness, and acceptance is success!

I have often wished, when a doctor asked me to describe my pain, that I could snap my fingers and let him feel it for himself. Pain is so subjective that its hard to put into words the ways it feels and since we all describe things differently, the words are not always meaningful to what I am experiencing.

Additionally, I would wager that if a person were to experience the intensity of my pain for just a few moments, it would make their knees go weak. Having pain day in and day out causes me to partially get accustom to it. Its not like having an immediate onset all the time, so I adapt to some of it. But if someone were to feel it immediately, there would be the intensity that would be very hard for them to handle.

This goes also to people who judge me and others with pain who say “You don’t look sick!”, “You don’t look like you are hurting!”. These people should also walk a mile in my shoes to understand what its all about. Never judge what you don’t understand!

To this point, I recently received a daily inspirational note from TUT.com that addresses this very point that I will pass on to you. It says:

If you could actually stand in someone else’s shoes, Elaine, to hear what
they hear, see what they see, and feel what they feel, you would honestly
wonder what planet they live on, and be totally blown away by how different
their “reality” is from yours.

You’d also never, in a million years, be quick to judge again.

Just sayin’
The Universe

Think about it!!
