Hi Everyone,
I went to my first support group meeting yesterday. I felt so good to be myself and not worry that I had to lay on the floor for part of the meeting because my back hurt. I actually shared the floor with our facilitator, Sally Price. She too has back and tailbone pain and her hubby designed a great back support cushion that she carries to the meetings on a baggage rolling tote carrier. It works very well.
Its really so embarrassing to have to lay down when going out to appointments or meetings, but if I don’t, and overdo it, my back goes into spasms. It great to have people that understand. We actually spent awhile talking about tools we each had designed to help us in our daily lives. It is amazing how inventive you can be when necessary. Just goes to show the old adage still applies, “There is more than one way to skin a cat”.
Sally had numerous pamphlets and other materials we could take to help us with information we needed. We also learned a relaxation technique and I almost fell asleep. LOL
All in all, it was a good meeting and I enjoyed making new friends. If you are in pain, I encourage you to seek out a group in your area. It just may be one of the best things you could do for yourself!
Blessings, Elaine

Elaine,
Thanks for your positive plug for the Peninsula Chronic Pain Support Group. I enjoyed getting to know you and to have some company down on the floor! Hope you'll be back.
Your website is very attractive and interesting. I look forward to exploring it more.
